Why Equine Assisted Development for grief, mental health and addiction/trauma recovery?

  • Stress management and relaxation.  A horse physiologically has the ability bring human heart rates into a state of cardiac coherence producing calming effects and focus

  • Complete honesty.  A horse reacts to dishonesty. A person cannot hide from them and horses cannot lie or pass judgment. They do challenge behaviour and leadership

  • Create lasting change.  The building blocks of skills taught by the horse creates self awareness and concrete outcomes to move forward in everyday life.  Lessons are also not forgotten as a horse provides unforgettable learning.

  • Person centred. Our one on one sessions make the horse a partner or teammate reacting to both positive and negative behaviour. Participants learn to control and change their responses to difficult behaviour with immediate feedback. They receive deep insight into why they are behaving in certain way. Support from the horse to reinforce positive behaviour.

  • Horses encourage trust, empathy and connection. They promote active listening skills to complete the scientifically researched, objectively driven exercises.

  • Create focus and engagement to stay in the moment as horses do. No checking out.

  • Horses push us to new levels of self awareness so that we can find confidence and competency.

Partnering with horses is a memorable experience and those teachable moments will be remembered far longer than classroom experiences.  Individuals gain empowerment through the curriculum programs and educational exercises. They reveal the human vs. horse dynamic and individual vs. group interaction.

Our learner based programs are designed to make certain that the necessary life skills to help the participants are not only learned but remembered.  Every learning style, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic has been taken into account in the development of every one of the twelve programs. It helps each individual learn they way they need to and our incredible teachers provide unforgettable, blatant teaching moments.

Each Building BlockTM Curriculum program has an objective yet all objectives are built into each program. We work with one objective at a time and keep building on these skills each week.  The programs and memorable teaching moments help the individuals build an armour of skills that they can take out into the world and create their own empowered change.

we are challenged to change ourselves.
